Months of building, one post, 41 views: the 30-second film we made about it
Most launches end the same way. We made a film about that ending, and built it the way we build every launch film: script first, score second, then motion.
"Your idea, in motion" went out this morning on X, LinkedIn and YouTube. It's 30 seconds, one continuous shot, with no voiceover. Watch it with the sound on first, then read how it's put together.
A note on the numbers: the product in the film, Ledgerline, is made up, and so are its view counts. The story is the point, not the stats.
0–11 seconds: the story every founder knows
A laptop wakes up, and the camera pushes into its screen. Four short lines carry the first act:
- "It started as an idea."
- "You prompted it into being." The prompt types itself, one key sound per letter: "Build an app that closes my books in a day." The product builds itself piece by piece.
- "You posted it." The caption reads "It's live. Finally."
- "And it just sits there." The post stops in a feed: 3 likes, 41 views.
Then the music drops out. A soft light slides across the post and nothing else happens. That quiet moment is the problem we solve, and the film shows it without saying it.
The rule: if your viewer has lived the problem, show it and stop. Don't explain it.
11–19 seconds: three words on three beats
The camera whips through the post and rides a strip of words: "Scripted." "Scored." "Animated." Each word lands on a beat of the score. Then the film fans out into every feed format and collapses back into one card: "Cut for every feed." The card turns into a play button, and the button gets pressed.
Those three words are our whole process, in order. We write the script before any pixels exist. We score it next, so every beat has a job. Only then do we animate, and each move lands on a sound.
19–26 seconds: the slam, then the lift-off
Everything freezes, then the music slams back in. "Your idea, in motion." The light from the play button arcs up and lands as the dot on the i, and "in motion." rides a ribbon that flattens into a graph line. A cursor clicks Launch, and that flat line finally rises: "Launch it like you built it."
The rule: one silence, one slam. A film that's loud all the way through has nothing to hit with.
26–30 seconds: the ending
Our crystal mark forms from a point of light as the last chime rings, then settles next to the name and one line: "Launch films for SaaS teams." One ending and one place to go.
Why there's no voice
A lot of people scroll with the sound off, and a voiceover asks them to turn it on before they know why they should. Every line here is on screen, so the film works on mute. With the sound on, the score does a narrator's job: it tells you when to feel the silence and when to look up.
